Russian drone strikes hit Kyiv as Moscow targets Ukraine's energy grid, while the EU warns Russia over an alleged explosive drone scheme in Germany.

Russian drone strikes hit Kyiv overnight, injuring a woman and damaging local infrastructure following Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's address to the United Nations General Assembly. Russian defense officials confirmed a renewed targeting campaign directed at Ukraine's energy infrastructure ahead of winter. In response, Ukrainian forces escalated long-range strikes against Russian oil refineries, causing domestic fuel shortages inside Russia.

Concurrently, European security concerns escalated after German police in Leipzig identified two suspects linked to Moscow over an alleged plot involving explosive drones. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen delivered a stern warning regarding foreign sabotage attempts, stating, "we do not tolerate attacks on EU soil, ready to respond."
