Russia launches fresh Kyiv strikes as EU warns over Leipzig plot

Russian forces executed overnight drone attacks on Kyiv, injuring at least one woman, as Moscow confirmed a renewed military campaign targeting Ukraine's energy grid. The strikes followed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's speech at the United Nations General Assembly, where he strongly criticized Russian leadership.

In response, Ukrainian forces escalated long-range aerial attacks against Russian oil refineries, compounding fuel shortages inside Russia. Meanwhile, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen condemned an alleged explosive drone plot in Leipzig, Germany, involving two suspects linked to Moscow. Von der Leyen warned that European authorities will not tolerate hostile acts on EU territory and remain prepared to respond.
