A recount in Berlin's Spandau district transferred a seat to the AfD and reduced the Abgeordnetenhaus size, amid shifting demographic trends in the capital.

Following a data transmission error in Berlin's state election, a recount in the Spandau district transferred a direct parliamentary seat from Christian Democratic Union (CDU) candidate Bettina Meißner to Alternative for Germany (AfD) politician Tommy Tabor. The recount also reduced the overall size of the Abgeordnetenhaus by five seats through adjustments to balancing mandates.

The shift occurs amid changing demographic patterns and shifting political preferences in the capital. Polling by Forsa placed Die Linke in the lead at 22 percent, supported strongly by younger voters, while the CDU and AfD followed at 18 percent each. Additionally, voter turnout among residents with a migration background remained lower in districts like Neukölln, while some young voters of Turkish descent expressed interest in the AfD due to concerns over public safety and economic stability.
