A recount in Berlin's Spandau district awarded a state parliament seat to the AfD instead of the CDU, as Die Linke leads state election polling at 22 percent.

A recount following a data transmission error in Berlin's Spandau district has awarded a direct state parliament seat to Alternative for Germany (AfD) candidate Tommy Tabor, replacing Christian Democratic Union (CDU) politician Bettina Meißner. The correction, caused by an administrative reporting glitch rather than counting errors, reduced the total size of the Abgeordnetenhaus by five seats after adjustments to balance mandates.

The development coincides with shifting voter trends ahead of the upcoming election. A Forsa survey places Die Linke ahead at 22 percent, propelled by strong youth support, followed by the CDU and AfD tied at 18 percent. Reporting highlights varying demographic dynamics, noting lower voter turnout among residents with migrant backgrounds in Neukölln alongside emerging interest in the AfD among some young voters of Turkish descent citing public safety concerns.
