Portugal's Left Bloc demands guaranteed abortion access in the national health system, alongside updates on domestic violence, Afghan refugee integration, and falling Atlantic migration numbers.

In Portugal, the Left Bloc submitted a parliamentary resolution urging the government to ensure prompt access to voluntary pregnancy terminations within the National Health Service. The initiative follows claims by local patient committees that Almada's Garcia de Orta Hospital had ended abortion services, though local health administrators characterized the halt as a temporary suspension.

Meanwhile, official records highlight ongoing social challenges, with domestic violence reports averaging 82 daily cases and exceeding 14,000 incidents. Separately, eight Afghan women who escaped Taliban rule marked one year of integration and resettlement in the country.

Regarding regional migration, the International Organization for Migration reported a 78 percent drop in arrivals along the West African Atlantic route in early 2026, crediting strengthened border management between Senegal and Mauritania.
