Alpo Rusi has published details regarding KGB pressure aimed at former Finnish caretaker prime minister Keijo Liinamaa during the late Cold War era.

Political scientist Alpo Rusi has detailed historical evidence regarding KGB pressure targeted at former Finnish caretaker prime minister Keijo Liinamaa during the late Cold War era. Writing in Iltalehti, Rusi outlined how Soviet intelligence operatives attempted to shape political outcomes and labor market decisions in Finland as President Urho Kekkonen's term neared its end.

According to Rusi, Liinamaa, who also served as the nation's chief conciliator, had disclosed receiving direct threats prior to his sudden death in December 1980. The pressure was part of a broader covert initiative by Moscow to maintain geopolitical influence over Helsinki's domestic governance and guide presidential succession scenarios.
