Polish President Karol Nawrocki cut short an overseas trip to call emergency talks after the suspension of the Constitutional Tribunal head triggered protests in Warsaw.

Polish President Karol Nawrocki returned to Warsaw late on 30 October and summoned urgent consultations with all parliamentary parties, declaring that "constitutional order has been violated." The move followed the suspension of Constitutional Tribunal President Bogdan Święczkowski and his deputy after Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s government requested the removal of their judicial immunity to pursue potential criminal charges.

The tribunal's leadership change triggered unrest outside its headquarters in Warsaw, where demonstrators attempted to force entry into the building, leading to the deployment of riot police. Nationalist opposition groups condemned the government's actions as an illegal power grab, while government supporters framed the step as necessary to restore the rule of law. Nawrocki cited internal security risks as the key reason for bringing political factions together to stabilize the crisis.
