Rescue teams along the Nepal-Tibet border face severe obstacles as the death toll rises and over 1,500 people remain missing following catastrophic flash floods.

Search and rescue teams in Nepal and Tibet are continuing efforts to locate over 1,500 people missing following a catastrophic flash flood triggered by a massive collapse of mud and rock along the Himalayan border.

According to official updates, the death toll in Nepal has climbed to at least 469, while Chinese authorities have confirmed three fatalities in the Gyirong area of Tibet. Severed transport networks and destroyed infrastructure, including bridges and power projects, continue to hamper rescue operations. Hundreds of foreign nationals—including citizens from the United Kingdom, India, Australia, Ukraine, Malaysia, and the United States—remain unaccounted for after entire communities were inundated. Rescue crews are prioritizing access to isolated border zones as the risk of secondary landslides persists.
