Rescue teams in Nepal and Tibet are searching for over 1,000 missing people following catastrophic flash floods along the Himalayan border.

Emergency crews in Nepal and Tibet are searching for more than 1,000 missing people after a glacial failure triggered severe flash floods along the Himalayan border. Nepalese authorities reported that the confirmed death toll has reached 469, while Chinese state media noted at least three fatalities in Tibet.

The floodwaters destroyed entire villages, power projects, and transport networks, stranding residents and international travelers. Hundreds of foreign nationals—including citizens from Australia, India, Malaysia, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and the United States—remain unaccounted for. Rescue operations face significant obstacles due to ruined bridges, severed communications, and bad weather. Search teams on both sides of the border continue efforts to locate survivors despite the ongoing risk of additional flooding.
