Nepal flash flood death toll rises as search for missing continues

Search and rescue operations are ongoing along the Nepal-Tibet border following catastrophic flash floods triggered by a mud and rock collapse into a Himalayan river. According to Nepalese police, Nepal's death toll has risen to 469, while Chinese authorities have reported three deaths in Tibet. Over 1,500 people remain missing across the region, including hundreds of foreign nationals from countries such as the United Kingdom, India, Australia, Malaysia, Ukraine, and the United States.

Torrential floodwaters swept through communities, destroying homes, bridges, roads, and energy infrastructure, which has severely disrupted transit and hindered rescue efforts. Emergency teams face continued risks from secondary landslides and rising water levels as they search for survivors.
