MED9 discussions in Split centered on defense readiness, Black Sea security, energy price risks, and electoral reform in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Following the MED9 summit in Split, European policy discussions focused on defense readiness, security threats in the Black Sea, migration, and the bloc's upcoming budget. Panelists and regional leaders highlighted the need to strengthen joint European capabilities while protecting cohesion funding and Mediterranean cooperation.

Alongside security debates, economic and regional stability featured prominently in bilateral talks. Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to address energy market volatility linked to Middle East tensions, citing domestic price caps on fuel, gas, and electricity. Plenković also emphasized electoral reforms in Bosnia and Herzegovina, arguing that proper representation for all three constituent peoples is essential to ensure long-term political stability.
