EU leaders and Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković discussed European defense, economic competitiveness, energy costs, and Bosnian electoral reform at the MED9 summit in Split.

Following the MED9 summit in Split, discussions focused on European economic competitiveness, defense readiness, and institutional adaptation to global shifts. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen highlighted the need for structural modernization, noting that European systems "were created for a different world."

On the sidelines of the summit, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković met with von der Leyen to address energy security and price controls aimed at shielding consumers from Middle East volatility.
