Kyiv hit by drone strikes as EU warns Moscow over Leipzig incident
Russian drone strikes hit Kyiv following Zelensky's UN speech, while the EU warns Moscow over hybrid threats and explosive drones in Leipzig.
Russian forces launched fresh overnight drone strikes on Kyiv, injuring a woman in the capital. The bombardment followed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's address to the UN General Assembly, where he criticized Russian leadership. Moscow’s defense ministry declared a renewed military campaign targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure. In response, Kyiv intensified drone strikes against Russian oil facilities, impacting domestic fuel supplies and forcing Moscow to source refined fuel abroad.
Concurrently, European Union leadership raised concerns over hybrid warfare after German authorities linked two suspects connected to Moscow to explosive drones discovered in Leipzig. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen declared, "We will not tolerate attacks on EU soil," affirming readiness to respond to foreign interference.
