Emergency crews face severe disruption as search efforts continue across Nepal and Tibet following catastrophic flash floods caused by a glacial collapse.

Emergency operations are intensifying across the Nepal-Tibet border following catastrophic flash floods caused by a glacial collapse into a Himalayan river. Discrepancies in casualties persist as local conditions hamper reporting, with verified death tolls standing between 165 and over 175 in Nepal, alongside three reported deaths in Tibet. Total missing persons estimates range from 800 to more than 1,300 across both territories, including foreign tourists from multiple countries.

Mudslides wiped out entire communities, destroyed key infrastructure, and severely disrupted power and communications near the Gyirong border crossing. Seismologists noted the initial impact registered similarly to an earthquake. Rescuers continue navigating deep mud and blocked roads to locate survivors.
