Heavy fighting persists as Ukraine advances near Kupiansk while Russia claims gains near Sumy
Clashes continue across multiple sectors in Ukraine, with Ukrainian advances reported near Kupiansk and Lyman, while Russia claims gains near Sumy and strikes near Kyiv.
Clashes remain intense across multiple sectors of the front line in eastern and northern Ukraine, with both sides reporting contrasting tactical developments. Ukrainian forces have advanced north of Kupiansk along the right bank of the Oskil River, while officials prepare to confirm the recovery of roughly 200 square kilometers of territory near Lyman.
Conversely, Russia’s Ministry of Defence reported capturing several settlements on the approaches to the northern city of Sumy. Russian strikes also targeted ammunition storage facilities in the Kyiv region. Meanwhile, in the southern Zaporizhzhia sector, Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, personally denied reports of Ukrainian tactical progress.
