Ukrainian forces advance near Kupiansk as Russia claims progress near Sumy

Ukrainian troops advance near Kupiansk and Lyman while Russia claims gains near Sumy and strikes ammunition facilities in Kyiv region.
Ukrainian troops have made incremental progress along the right bank of the Oskil River north of Kupiansk, while Ukrainian authorities prepare to confirm control over roughly 200 square kilometers near Lyman.
Concurrently, the Russian Ministry of Defence reported that its forces captured several settlements on the approaches to Sumy. Overnight air operations also saw Russian strikes targeting ammunition storage facilities located within the Kyiv region.
In the southern sector, chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov personally denied reports of recent Ukrainian operational successes in the Zaporizhzhia region. Both military commands continue to offer conflicting accounts of battlefield progress across key axes in eastern and southern Ukraine.
