Rescue operations continue across Nepal and Tibet as death tolls rise and over 1,000 people remain missing following catastrophic flash floods caused by a glacial collapse.

Emergency teams across Nepal and Tibet are searching for over 1,000 missing individuals after a glacial collapse generated catastrophic flash floods along the Himalayan border. Confirmed fatalities have climbed to at least 175 in Nepal alongside three reported deaths in Tibet, with figures varying as rescue efforts progress.

The powerful torrent of mud and rock swept through border communities, destroying villages, hydroelectric facilities, and major transportation infrastructure. Eyewitnesses described entire families being washed away by rushing debris. On the Tibetan side of the border, Chinese state media reported extensive emergency operations concentrated near the Gyirong crossing. Authorities report that hundreds of missing persons include foreign tourists from countries such as India, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
