French emergency crews have contained a wildfire in Aude while managing high risk levels and previous blazes across the country.

Emergency services have contained the wildfire near Montséret in the Aude department after it burned roughly 100 hectares of vegetation. Hundreds of firefighters and multiple aircraft responded to the blaze, which temporarily prompted local confinement orders in nearby Saint-André-de-Roquelongue. Over 100 firefighters remain on site to douse remaining hot spots.

Across France, emergency crews report progress on several active fronts. Blazes in Drôme and Gironde have stopped advancing, while an outbreak in Var was extinguished. However, authorities in Var restricted public access to seven forest massifs due to extreme fire risks.

Official figures indicate wildfires have scorched approximately 115,000 hectares nationwide this year. Armed Forces Minister Sébastien Lecornu will visit Gironde on 17 August to launch reconstruction efforts in affected areas.
