French firefighters contain a 100-hectare wildfire in the Corbières massif as several other blazes across southern France stabilize or are extinguished.

French authorities report that emergency services have contained a wildfire in the Corbières massif after it burned 100 hectares near Montséret in the Aude department. The rapid response involved over 200 firefighters and ten aircraft, which briefly led officials to issue confinement orders for residents in neighboring Saint-André-de-Roquelongue.

Meanwhile, a separate fire in Puilaurens remains active across 225 hectares, where difficult terrain is impeding containment efforts. Elsewhere, blazes in Gironde and Drôme have stopped advancing, and fires in the Var region have been extinguished. However, officials maintain access bans for high-risk forest massifs in Var.

Nationwide, blazes have burned 115,000 hectares this year. Armed Forces Minister Sébastien Lecornu is scheduled to visit Gironde on 17 August to launch reconstruction initiatives.
