French emergency services have contained a wildfire in the Corbières massif after it burned 100 hectares, as firefighters continue to monitor active blazes across southern France.

French emergency services have contained a wildfire in the Corbières massif after it burned 100 hectares near Montséret in the Aude department. The rapid deployment of over 200 firefighters and aerial support briefly prompted confinement orders for residents in nearby Saint-André-de-Roquelongue.

Meanwhile, a separate wildfire in Puilaurens remains active across 225 hectares. Authorities noted that while the fire's perimeter has stabilized, steep terrain continues to hinder operations on hot spots. Elsewhere, blazes in Gironde and Drôme have halted their advance, and fires in the Var region are extinguished, though access to high-risk forest massifs remains prohibited.

Wildfires have consumed 115,000 hectares across France this year. Armed Forces Minister Sébastien Lecornu is scheduled to visit Gironde on 17 August to launch local reconstruction efforts.
