Researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute have introduced an AI-based system to monitor pancreatic cancer patients and optimize intervention planning to improve quality of life.

Researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute have developed an artificial intelligence platform aimed at enhancing quality of life for pancreatic cancer patients through digital monitoring and tailored intervention planning. Pancreatic cancer represents two to three percent of all malignant tumors and is frequently diagnosed at an advanced stage due to ambiguous early symptoms. The aggressive nature of the disease often leads to rapid metastasis, severe pain, muscle loss, and substantial weight reduction.

The new system leverages AI algorithms to continuously track patient health metrics, allowing medical teams to adjust palliative and supportive therapies more effectively. By optimizing symptom management and treatment schedules, the technology seeks to mitigate debilitating side effects and support patients throughout their care journey.
