France's Constitutional Council approved end-of-life legislation with conscience protections for facilities while striking down a social media ban for under-15s.

France’s Constitutional Council has validated legislation legalizing assisted dying while rejecting a proposed ban on social media access for minors under 15.

The constitutional court ruled that the end-of-life framework aligns with the constitution, deferring to parliamentary discretion on major social reforms. Judges attached three interpretive conditions, including conscience clause protections allowing private and religious healthcare facilities to opt out of performing the procedure. The council also approved emergency agricultural legislation.

Conversely, the court struck down Article 1 of the social media bill, ruling that a blanket restriction on under-15s unconstitutionally limits personal freedoms. French President Emmanuel Macron praised the approval of the end-of-life law, calling it the conclusion of an "exemplary democratic debate."
