New EU rules extend protection for displaced Ukrainians to 2028 conditional on military duties, as Czech officials face disputes over travel to Kyiv and address labor agency fraud.

New European Union regulations extending temporary protection status for displaced Ukrainians until March 2028 have taken effect, linking eligibility to the fulfillment of military obligations to Ukraine.

In the Czech Republic, police established the "Kobra 26" task force to address illegal labor agency networks accused of siphoning billions of korunas from state funds through fraudulent employment schemes involving foreign workers.

Concurrently, domestic political friction persists over official travel to Ukraine. Parliamentary Deputy Speaker Barbora Urbanová visited Kyiv to meet Ukrainian lawmakers despite a previous rejection by the Czech parliamentary organizing committee. Meanwhile, Chief of General Staff Miroslav Hlaváč awaits pending defense ministry clearance to attend an upcoming military summit in Kyiv.
