EU extends Russia sanctions as fighting continues despite energy target claim

Fighting continues between Russia and Ukraine despite reported energy truce claims, as the EU extends sanctions following a border train attack.
Fighting between Russia and Ukraine has continued despite statements from US President Donald Trump indicating both nations agreed to halt strikes on energy infrastructure. Recent Russian shelling in Ukraine's Kherson region killed two people and wounded 14 others, while Ukrainian drone attacks reportedly injured seven people across Russia's Sochi and Belgorod regions.
Diplomatic tensions remain high following a Russian attack on a train near the Ukrainian-Polish border. European Union High Representative Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot characterized the strike as an attempt to intimidate European partners and foster division. In response, the European Union formally extended its sanctions against Moscow. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a decree removing the country's prosecutor general from office.
