New EU rules condition temporary protection for Ukrainians on military service, while Czech authorities tackle labor agency fraud and domestic disputes over official visits to Kyiv.

New European Union rules extending temporary protection for displaced Ukrainians until March 2028 have come into effect, conditioning legal status on meeting military duties to Kyiv. Concurrently, Czech authorities are addressing domestic economic and political challenges connected to Ukraine.

To combat labor market fraud, Czech police launched the "Kobra 26" task force, targeting fraudulent employment agency networks that reportedly deprive the state of billions of korunas in unpaid taxes and contributions.

Meanwhile, domestic friction persists regarding official travel to Kyiv. Parliamentary Deputy Speaker Barbora Urbanová visited Ukraine to meet her counterpart Olena Kondratiuk following a rejected trip request by the parliamentary organizing committee. Additionally, Chief of General Staff Miroslav Hlaváč awaits defense ministry clearance to attend an upcoming military conference in Ukraine.
