Die Linke secures victory in Berlin state election driven by youth support

Following the election for Berlin's House of Representatives, Die Linke has emerged as a dominant force, supported heavily by young voters focused on soaring housing costs. Lead candidate Elif Eralp centered her campaign on rent controls and social policies, securing strong backing in urban districts.

However, voting patterns across the capital revealed sharp demographic divides. Reporting highlighted persistent voter turnout gaps in multicultural neighborhoods like Neukölln, where residents with migration backgrounds participate at lower rates. Meanwhile, some young Turkish-German voters turned toward the Alternative for Germany (AfD), citing worries regarding public safety, economic insecurity, and border enforcement.

While progressive platforms mobilized many young Berliners, shifting preferences and turnout disparities reflect a complex electorate.
