Russian airstrikes inflict civilian casualties across Ukraine while Kyiv confronts anti-corruption investigations and calls for wartime elections.

Russian aerial bombardments struck multiple Ukrainian regions overnight, including Kyiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Chernihiv, causing numerous civilian casualties and widespread infrastructure destruction. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky vowed that Ukraine will retaliate against the extensive strikes, while Russian air defenses intercepted several Ukrainian drones targeting Moscow.

Concurrently, internal political pressures are mounting in Kyiv. Anti-corruption investigators searched the home of a senior presidential administration official amid a money-laundering inquiry. The probe coincides with calls from former minister Mykhailo Fedorov for wartime democratic elections, who argued that democracy must not remain hostage to the conflict. Ukrainian lawmakers are also scheduled to vote on appointing Yevhenii Khmara as the country's new defense minister.
