Russian strikes on Kyiv and Ukrainian counterattacks leave dozens dead while the US Senate advances new sanctions against Moscow.

Russian aerial bombardments across Ukraine, including heavy strikes on Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia, left at least 17 people dead and dozens injured. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated urgent requests for Western air defense systems, stating interceptors "could have saved the lives" of victims. Zelensky also welcomed new US Senate legislation imposing sanctions on Russia and Iran.

Simultaneously, Ukrainian drone attacks hit targets in Belgorod, Crimea, and near Moscow, causing several casualties. Amid the escalation, former US President Donald Trump raised concerns over transferring Patriot missile secrets. Elsewhere, Italian naval forces intercepted a Russian shadow fleet oil tanker near Pantelleria, while reports from Russia detailed fraudulent marriage schemes aimed at claiming military death payouts.
