Fighting continues across Ukraine and Russia despite claims of an agreement to spare energy infrastructure, while the EU extends its sanctions regime.

Cross-border military engagements between Ukrainian and Russian forces persist, despite claims from U.S. President Donald Trump that both nations agreed to halt strikes against energy infrastructure. Recent shelling in the Kherson region resulted in two deaths and 14 injuries, according to local Ukrainian authorities. Meanwhile, drone strikes reportedly injured seven people in the Russian areas of Sochi and Belgorod.

In Kyiv, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree officially dismissing the country's prosecutor general. Concurrently, the European Union extended its sanctions framework against Moscow. EU High Representative Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot condemned a recent Russian strike on a train near the Ukrainian-Polish border, framing the operation as an attempt to intimidate European nations and sow division.
