The EU renewed Russia sanctions as Donald Trump claimed Kyiv and Moscow agreed to pause strikes on energy targets, despite ongoing cross-border casualties.

The European Union has extended its sanctions against Moscow as hostilities between Ukrainian and Russian forces continue. Local Ukrainian authorities reported two deaths and 14 injuries following Russian shelling in the Kherson region, while Russian officials stated Ukrainian drone strikes wounded seven people in Sochi and Belgorod.

In diplomatic developments, US President Donald Trump stated that Kyiv and Moscow agreed to refrain from targeting each other's energy infrastructure. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed an official decree dismissing the nation's prosecutor general.

Following a Russian strike on a train near the Ukrainian-Polish border, EU Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot denounced the attack, asserting it was intended to "intimidate and divide" European allies.
