US President Donald Trump announced a agreement between Russia and Ukraine to spare energy targets, even as fighting, casualties, and EU sanctions extensions continue.

US President Donald Trump announced that Russia and Ukraine have agreed to halt attacks on each other's energy infrastructure, though heavy fighting remains ongoing. Local authorities reported two people were killed and 14 injured during Russian artillery bombardment in the Kherson region. Meanwhile, Russian officials stated that Ukrainian drone strikes wounded seven people across Belgorod and Sochi.

Diplomatic tensions also escalated as the European Union extended its sanctions against Moscow. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot criticized a recent Russian strike on a train near the Ukrainian-Polish border, asserting the attack was intended to "intimidate and divide" European nations. Additionally, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued an official decree removing the country's prosecutor general from office.
