Berlin authorities have tagged four high-risk suspects following a terror attempt, while CDU lawmakers continue to debate proposed pension reforms.

Berlin authorities have fitted electronic ankle monitors on four individuals classified as high-risk threats following a recent Islamist terror attempt near the city's Christopher Street Day parade. A court granted the police request to implement electronic tagging to strengthen surveillance.

Concurrently, internal debate within Germany's conservative CDU/CSU alliance over pension reform persists. CDU lawmaker Pascal Reddig publicly rejected proposals from CDU state minister-presidents to modify planned pension adjustments, arguing that the expert advisory panel's recommendations should be implemented as a unified package. The dispute comes as Bundestag President Bärbel Bas urged the conservative parliamentary group to establish a clear stance regarding early retirement without financial deductions. Amid the policy disagreements, CSU leader Markus Söder expressed continued confidence in CDU Chairman Friedrich Merz as the alliance's chancellor candidate.
