A recount in Berlin's Spandau district awarded a seat to the AfD after a transmission error, reducing the state parliament by five seats amid changing voter dynamics.

Following the state election in Berlin, official corrections revealed a transmission error in the Spandau district, transferring a direct mandate from the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) to Alternative for Germany (AfD) candidate Tommy Tabor. The corrected calculation reduces the total size of the Abgeordnetenhaus by five seats.

The election highlighted shifting political dynamics across the capital. Pre-election polling placed Die Linke ahead at 22 percent, driven by strong support among young voters, followed by the CDU and AfD at 18 percent each. Meanwhile, voter engagement varied across communities. While turnout among residents with migrant backgrounds remained low in Neukölln, observers noted interest in the AfD among some young Turkish-Germans motivated by concerns over public safety, migration, and economic stability.
