Heavy frontline combat continues across eastern Ukraine amid conflicting tactical claims
Ukrainians and Russians report intense engagements across multiple sectors, with conflicting statements on frontline shifts near Sumy, Kupyansk, and Zaporizhzhia.
Intense frontline combat persisted across Ukraine, with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reporting between 221 and 254 combat engagements in a single day. Russian forces launched aggressive assaults aimed at breaching defensive lines, with the highest concentration of attacks recorded in the Pokrovsk, Lyman, and Kostiantynivka directions.
Contrasting tactical updates emerged from several sectors. Ukrainian troops reportedly advanced along the right bank of the Oskil River north of Kupyansk, alongside potential gains near Lyman. Conversely, the Russian Defense Ministry stated its forces captured several settlements on the approaches to Sumy, while Russian Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov denied reports of Ukrainian progress in Zaporizhzhia. Additionally, strikes targeted ammunition depots in the Kyiv region.
