Valerii Zaluzhnyi stated Ukraine will never join NATO due to outdated doctrine, as Russian missile strikes hit the Kyiv region amid air defense shortages.

Former Ukrainian commander-in-chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi stated that Ukraine will never join NATO, arguing the alliance relies on outdated tactics and remains unprepared for 21st-century warfare. Zaluzhnyi, currently serving as ambassador to the United Kingdom, highlighted a growing divide between alliance doctrine and Ukraine's operational experience against Russian forces.

The remarks coincided with an intense overnight Russian attack. Ukrainian air defenses failed to intercept any of the 28 ballistic and anti-ship missiles fired, including Iskander and Zircon models. The strikes killed at least 17 people and injured 44 others in the Kyiv region, with Ukrainian officials citing critical shortages of ammunition for Patriot systems.

Concurrently, Ukraine's new military leadership has initiated internal structural reforms to dismantle command networks established under previous leadership.
