A Wizz Air flight from London to Sofia was diverted to Budapest after receiving a bomb threat, landing safely under Hungarian fighter jet escort.

A Wizz Air passenger flight traveling from London to Sofia was diverted to Budapest on Monday following a bomb threat, according to Hungarian Defence Minister Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi.

After the threat was reported, Hungarian Gripen fighter jets were scrambled to escort the commercial aircraft to Ferenc Liszt International Airport in the Hungarian capital. The plane landed safely, and local authorities immediately initiated a security inspection of the aircraft.

The emergency response was launched following an alert through military airspace monitoring systems. Emergency personnel and security services proceeded to inspect the aircraft and manage passengers upon arrival.
