The US Supreme Court has temporarily paused a lower court order, allowing construction on a $400 million White House ballroom to move forward while justices review an emergency appeal.

The United States Supreme Court has temporarily lifted a lower court order halting construction on a proposed $400 million ballroom at the White House complex.

The decision, issued in an administrative directive by Chief Justice John Roberts, grants the justices additional time to evaluate an emergency request from the administration of President Donald Trump. Construction had previously been suspended following a lawsuit filed by a historic preservation group seeking to protect the site. The temporary measure allows initial development activities on the executive grounds to proceed while the high court reviews whether to issue a formal stay during ongoing legal proceedings.
