The US Supreme Court has paused a lower court injunction, allowing construction on a $400 million White House ballroom project to proceed pending further review.

The US Supreme Court has issued an emergency stay allowing the Trump administration to resume construction on a planned $400 million ballroom at the White House.

The temporary ruling, signed by Chief Justice John Roberts, pauses a lower court order that had blocked major portions of the development following a lawsuit filed by a historic preservation group. The stay gives the justices additional time to evaluate a formal appeal from the federal government, which requested permission to maintain ongoing work at the presidential complex while broader judicial reviews regarding heritage compliance remain pending before the court.
