The US Supreme Court has temporarily allowed construction to proceed on President Donald Trump's $400 million White House ballroom while legal challenges continue.

The United States Supreme Court has granted permission for construction to temporarily resume on President Donald Trump's proposed $400 million ballroom at the White House. In a 5–4 decision led by the conservative majority, Chief Justice John Roberts issued a stay on a lower court injunction that had previously halted work on the project.

The order provides the court additional time to consider an emergency application submitted by the administration. While the justices indicated that the government has a favorable chance of overcoming a legal challenge brought by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the ruling does not constitute a final determination on the legality of the construction. Consequently, initial structural assembly can proceed while litigation continues in lower federal courts.
