The US Supreme Court has temporarily lifted a lower court injunction, allowing construction on President Trump's $400 million White House ballroom expansion to continue.

The United States Supreme Court has temporarily permitted construction to resume on President Donald Trump's proposed $400 million White House ballroom expansion.

In a 5–4 decision, the court's conservative majority lifted a lower court injunction brought by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, which alleges the project breaches federal historic conservation laws. Chief Justice John Roberts issued an order granting the court time to consider the administration's appeal. The justices noted that the government has a strong likelihood of ultimately defeating the lawsuit, while emphasizing that this interim order does not represent a final ruling on the project's legal merits.

The decision allows structural work at the site to move forward, meaning the building's outer framework could potentially be completed before judicial proceedings reach a final conclusion.
