The US Supreme Court has temporarily lifted a lower court injunction, allowing construction on a $400 million White House ballroom to proceed.

The United States Supreme Court has temporarily cleared the way for the Trump administration to continue construction on a controversial $400 million ballroom at the White House complex. Chief Justice John Roberts issued a brief order halting a lower court injunction that had previously blocked major parts of the development.

The temporary freeze grants the justices additional time to deliberate on an emergency petition filed by federal lawyers. The legal challenge stems from a lawsuit launched by a heritage conservation group aiming to stop the project. Heavy equipment and workers remain active on the White House grounds while the nation's highest court reviews the underlying dispute.
