The US Supreme Court has temporarily allowed construction on President Donald Trump's $400 million White House ballroom to resume while legal challenges proceed.

The United States Supreme Court has temporarily permitted construction to resume on President Donald Trump’s planned $400 million White House ballroom. In a narrow 5–4 decision, the court's conservative majority lifted a lower court order that had previously halted the project. Chief Justice John Roberts issued a procedural ruling granting the justices additional time to evaluate an emergency request submitted by the administration.

The court noted that the government has a strong likelihood of prevailing against a lawsuit brought by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, which seeks to block the construction on historic conservation grounds. However, the justices emphasized that the temporary stay does not represent a final legal judgment regarding the project's lawfulness. The ruling allows structural work to move forward while formal legal proceedings continue in federal court.
