The US Supreme Court has temporarily allowed construction of President Trump's $400 million White House ballroom to proceed while legal challenges move forward.

The US Supreme Court has permitted construction to temporarily resume on President Donald Trump's planned $400 million ballroom at the White House while litigation proceeds. In a 5–4 decision, the court's conservative majority placed a temporary stay on a lower court ruling that had previously halted work on the site.

The lawsuit, initiated by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, contends that the development violates historic conservation guidelines. In an administrative order, Chief Justice John Roberts granted the administration's emergency petition to allow the justices additional time to review the case. The Supreme Court emphasized that the procedural order does not constitute a final ruling on the legality of the project.
