The US Supreme Court has paused a lower court injunction, allowing construction to resume on President Donald Trump's $400 million White House ballroom during ongoing litigation.

The US Supreme Court has granted a temporary stay allowing construction to resume on President Donald Trump's planned $400 million White House ballroom. In a 5–4 ruling led by the conservative majority, Chief Justice John Roberts issued a brief order lifting a lower court's injunction to give justices more time to review the administration's appeals.

The legal challenge, brought by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, contends that the expansion threatens the site's historic integrity. While the conservative majority noted that the federal government stands a strong chance of having the lawsuit dismissed, the court clarified that its procedural order does not constitute a final ruling on the project's legality. Construction work may now continue while legal proceedings remain ongoing.
