US indicts five alleged Russian agents over global plots against Ukraine supporters
US authorities have charged five alleged Russian agents over assassination and sabotage plots targeting supporters of Ukraine, alongside Danish reports of physical sabotage against defense firms.
United States federal prosecutors have charged five alleged Russian intelligence operatives with running a covert global network tasked with assassination and sabotage operations against supporters of Ukraine. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the suspects recruited operatives across North America and Europe to surveil targets, organize assassinations, and carry out attacks, including a June 2024 operation in Prague. All five defendants remain at large.
Simultaneously, Denmark's Security and Intelligence Service reported that Russian actors conducted physical sabotage against Danish defense contractors providing military supplies to Kyiv. Danish officials described the incidents as a notable escalation in Kremlin hybrid warfare aimed at undermining Western assistance to Ukraine.
