US charges five alleged Russian agents over assassination and sabotage plots
US prosecutors have charged five alleged Russian agents with plotting assassinations, while Denmark reports Russian sabotage against its defense firms.
US federal prosecutors have unsealed indictments charging five alleged Russian intelligence operatives with running a global sabotage and assassination network targeting allies of Ukraine across North America and Europe. According to the Department of Justice, the suspects recruited individuals to surveil and attack targets aligned with Kyiv, including a June 2024 incident in Prague. All five defendants remain at large.
Concurrently, Denmark's Security and Intelligence Service announced that Russian state actors executed sabotage attacks against Danish defense firms providing military equipment to Kyiv. Danish officials described these acts as a direct escalation in Moscow's hybrid warfare strategy. International authorities continue their investigations into the network's activities.
