Ukrainian parliament prepares to vote on Yevhen Khmara as Defence Minister amid military leadership reforms led by Commander-in-Chief Mychajlo Drapatyj.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has submitted the nomination of former intelligence chief Yevhen Khmara for Defence Minister, with parliament scheduled to vote on Wednesday alongside confirmation of Andrii Sybiha as Foreign Minister.

The legislative move follows the dismissal of former Defence Minister Mychajlo Fedorov, who has called for wartime elections while alleging a "crisis of governance" and systemic corruption within military command structures.

Concurrently, newly appointed Commander-in-Chief Mychajlo Drapatyj has initiated a restructuring of military leadership. Drapatyj is dismantling informal patronage networks linked to previous commanders and reforming promotion practices to empower effective battlefield officers.
