Ukrainian farmer details frontline agricultural defense against Russian drones

Ukrainian agricultural coordinator Viktor Hordienko has highlighted the transformation of routine farming operations into frontline defense efforts near active combat zones. Before Russia's full-scale invasion, Hordienko managed international grain exports, studying logistics in China and coordinating global shipping from trade hubs in Geneva and France.

Currently operating near the front line, Hordienko described how agricultural workers must actively counter Russian reconnaissance and attack drones using personal firearms and shotguns. The daily effort to protect livestock, machinery, and crops has forced local farmers to take on combat-like defensive duties alongside their agricultural work. According to Hordienko, maintaining crop production under constant aerial threat remains essential for preserving Ukraine's internal food security and supporting the local economy during ongoing military operations.
