Ukraine's new military chief moves to reform command structures as former top general critiques NATO readiness and internal security threats mount.

Ukraine’s newly appointed military chief, Mychajlo Drapatyj, has begun dismantling parallel command structures to resolve operational inefficiencies. Known for his decisive actions during the 2014 Mariupol engagements, Drapatyj assumes leadership during a complex tactical transition.

Simultaneously, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Ukraine’s ambassador to the United Kingdom and former top commander, publicly stated that Ukraine will never join NATO. Zaluzhnyi asserted that the alliance remains reliant on outdated doctrines unsuited for contemporary warfare.

On the home front, the Security Service of Ukraine reported thwarting dozens of Russian assassination plots targeting service members who were lured via online dating applications. Meanwhile, air defenses failed to intercept ballistic missiles during recent strikes on the Kyiv region, intensifying discussions regarding direct strikes against launch platforms within Russian territory.
