Ukraine repels heavy Russian assaults as overnight drone strikes kill civilians
Intense front-line clashes continue across eastern Ukraine alongside deadly overnight Russian drone attacks in Kyiv and Kherson regions.
Heavy front-line fighting across Ukraine reached between 221 and 254 daily engagements, with intense Russian assaults concentrated on the Pokrovsk, Lyman, and Kostiantynivka axes. Ukrainian forces repelled dozens of attacks and conducted infantry clearing operations north of Kupiansk along the Oskil River after disabling Russian drone assets.
Territorial reporting remains contested. Ukrainian officials anticipate confirming control over up to 200 square kilometers near Lyman, whereas Moscow claimed control over several villages near Sumy, and Russian General Staff Chief Valery Gerasimov denied Ukrainian progress in Zaporizhzhia.
Simultaneously, Russian forces launched 138 drones overnight. The strikes caused civilian casualties, including a mother and her two children killed in Kyiv Oblast and a priest who died in a monastery attack in Kherson Oblast.
